geez, I felt tired to write the fourth post on - yeah still, archidex08. this time; presentation boards by students. and of course, there are three other posts on archidex08 if you’ve not notice; materials showcase, architectural models, presentation boards by professional architects.
voila, some great renderings from alfa international college-
the first from international islamic university malaysia put an emphasis on venturi effect, but I’m more than impressed with the board compilation of the second board. it’s clean, beautifully aligned in symmetry.
my apologizes, I was bugged with the board from limkokwing until I forgot to photograph the whole board. I admit that limkokwing’s were too crumpled- obviously trying to squeeze several students work into one piece. nevertheless, I only photographed only one work that I might need to go through next semester.
mara’s first was on urban design, compiled in monochrome. however, I don’t believe it’s a good idea to present urban design with monochromatic colors although it was an attempt to harmonize with the second board.
above two was from merlimau polytechnics, albeit presenting a floating and a curved roof design. I have to admit the sections and perspectives were good, seemingly done primarily with modelling from sketchup.
taylor’s compilation is looking good, undoubtly better than its rival limkokwing’s. from a glance, the design intention doesn’t capture me well however.
UKM’s work is unreasonably striking and easily the best looking boards amongst all, thanks to its blue-skylined sections and perspectives. nevertheless, the ‘artificial bird nest’ is an obvious emulation from china’s olympic bird nest.
ungku omar polytechnics.
one of the UPM’s work, the lower second board is profoundly radical, filled with organic elements.
USM’s works however, is the most sophisticated, from what I observe. grinded with structural technicality, from the trusses into the floor decks.
my opinions here I mostly from-the-cover, and by that of course you may discredit me at any moment.
