
finally starting on the final design assignment; an art gallery. i spent some time doing precedent studies, and found a little bit about the precursor to the design of art galleries. well, looks like it’s Sir John Soane that established the basic layout of art galleries; with his dulwich picture gallery (that’s how it was called in 1811 i guess)
that was the time where there was no electricity, so the smart guy took an effort to use natural lighting to highlight the pictures; thru overhead skylights. and the gallery is a series of interconnected rooms; with no or few doors to have more uninterrupted space for hanging pictures-
anyway; can’t explain much about that- so take some time to view and analyse these two photos-
