google for architecture

google for architecture
google has been the world’s most popular search-engine- no matter whoever you are. so, you might be familiar with typing in keywords into the search bar to look for credible research and references.. but there are more tips out there that can really help you when you’re doing precedent studies for architecture;

 tip no.1 : the quotes
sometimes we might need to find exact keywords in a search.. most probably two worded terms, and adding quotes into your the keywords might have different results..

ok, let’s say you’re looking for gothic modernism architecture.. so instead of typing in gothic modernism architecture, why don’t you try “gothic modernism” architecture.. with the quotes of course- and compare the results

tip no.2 : excluding keywords
if you’re like me, you will feel that it’s so frustrated to come into articles that were not really what you expected or wanted.. so you might want to exclude some words into the search results..

for an example; you might want to research on the world trade center before the 9/11 incident.. so try to key in world trade center -9/11 ; with the subtract denoting the excluding symbol

tip no.3 : as a calculator
I often came across different dimensional units, and it might be very time-wasting to convert themselves manually.. so ever heard of google as a calculator? try key in 3 meters in feet and see what the results might be

tip no.4 : as a dictionary
if google can be a calculator, why can’t it be a dictionary? you can actually find meanings of certain words through google.. here’s how you do it; type define architecture into the search bar and there it is, the definition of architecture

there is a image search too; if you wish to find some photos of a specific building.. but for that, i am recommending you to use flickr to find images

note: there is a new guide on how to optimize internet for your architectural needs
