highest structure of all time: crane

I’ve received an email that titled; the person of the highest position in the world – concluded with this image.

of course, the whole world knows about burj dubai; soon to be the tallest building in the world when it is completed. in fact, now it is currently the highest standing structure of the world – well if you include incomplete buildings. right, the tower is based on a design of a desert flower - all in reinforced concrete- so no introductions, you can read them all in wiki or anywhere else.
but, from my perspective – let’s look at the architect, adrian smith from SOM (skidmore, owings & merrill). SOM is basically a huge architecture firm that grasped from skyscraper and highrise projects. so it is no suprise to see many towers around the world designed by SOM. adrian smith, on the other hand is an architect that specializes in supertall skyscrapers- the same category cesar pelli is in with, with completed projects such as the at&t building and jin mao tower.

“my real expertise was supertall structures, large structures, mixed-use environments,”
adrian smith, the chief architect of burj dubai.
nevertheless, the thought of that babu in the crane of burj dubai’s construction struck me several times. it made me wonder how people really built construction cranes, that rises so tall although seemingly using the same structure. after a few hours of crane study- I found out heck, crane can build themselves vertically. though the first few crane components were erected with external help (mobile cranes). here; one video that will enlighten your life;
but that still didn’t satisfies my amazement with cranes. until, I found out (credit after me); if impermanent structures is to be considered, then the highest structure of all time should be construction cranes!
