ever wondered where is the best prison in the world? well, this prison in austria can be a great candidate for that. let me present you the finest, most comfortable, paradise prison;

the judicial center leoben (justizzentrum leoben in german) designed by hohensinn architektur. looks as if the austrian government are rewarding instead of punishing their criminals. of course, from the way it was designed, it is an apparent modern building, with those fine glazing walls.

opened in march 2005 and hmm.. makes us more induced to commit crime, isnt it? I meant heck, the exterior itself is already way better than the hostel I’m living in. in fact, it seemed as if this is built for luxurious or high-profile criminals. maybe any presidents or prime ministers that are sentenced to jail would be sent to this austrian prison.

instead of instilling fear within prisoners with dark dungeons, the architect came out with a totally radical idea, how about an open and transparent hallway, flooded with daylight.. inspiring hopes for prisoners and criminals alike? how the prisoners would behave better or worse in this leisure center is beyond my imagination. well, who would want to leave this place, given the choice you can prolong your sentence in this resort prison complex?

a google translated quote for justizzentrum leoben;
“Here one remains voluntarily, here does not break out one not, is called it on the side. Too stupidly that one must become criminal, in order to be allowed to move into this leisure center. And that one cannot select oneself the length of the vacation.”

if you’re thinking to join this prison, think no more. obviously because the prison is fully booked with 205 inmates- and ironically I think they would hardly leave this place.

have a look at the facilities.

look at the TV! man, this is much better than a hospital!
read a little about the concept of this prison;
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Each of the persons deprived of their liberty must be humanely and with respect for the inherent dignity of the human being treated.”
right, prisoners should not be deprived of their rights.. but wait a minute, read more below;
p/s: this is not exactly a prison. this is a judicial complex, comprised of courts and a small detention center, not exactly a prison as you think. so, having a great time figuring which law to break in austria?
