sexiest male profession : architects

sorry for the late post, been to four site visits in one day and I’m as tired as hell. plus the Internet connection was damn *cough* great! you know, streamyx. I came across several blogs yelling that architects are the sexiest male profession. well, what, I’m itchy to blog on this as well.

Architects are ‘sexiest’

“Architects have been voted the sexiest male professionals in a survey of women’s ideal partners.

The survey, conducted by the introduction agency Drawing Down the Moon, found that women favoured architects “due to the esteem associated with the profession”.

Architects are seen as being “balanced and rounded individuals who combine a creative approach with a caring, thoughtful disposition”, the survey found. It concluded: “Their ability to cope with pressure of work in a relaxed manner was also deemed to be a significant plus.”

Male architects beat stockbrokers, doctors, film directors and teachers on the top spot.

However female members of the profession fared less well and did not feature in the top 10 out of male preferences.

RIBA president David Rock commented that architects were probably unaware of their animal magnetism: “Architects were probably the only group on the list whose self-image is lower than their public image”, he said, but added: “Mind you, you have to question the veracity of any list that includes drama teachers”.

RIBA Architecture Gallery director Alicia Pivaro, who is married to architect Paul Monaghan, said she thaugt male architects were highly attractive: “Being married to the architecture’s Mr Sexy, I would have to agree.”

But she was surprised at the failiure of women architects to appear on the list. “All the ones I know are very sexy”, she said.

Men instead voted PR executives the sexiest profession for females, followed by actresses and journalists.”

plus, I’ve heard that a Dutch magazine also produced the same research; with ‘architects and designers being in the first and the second sexiest’. wow, that is a fact now! I’m glad to be an architect (to-be) right now!

to cut everything short, these are the reasons why we, the architects are the sexiest male profession;

• architects were trained to be heroes. right, we were told we are the ‘master’ in the field of construction, the second oldest profession as the first oldest profession needs a place to be designed by architects. lecturers always repeated we have the role for the people and to save the world.“With architects, you have an image of someone above reproach and not damaged, the way lawyers and judges and even doctors have been,” says film historian Robert Osborne, host of Turner Classic Movies.
• architects are creators. our works stand in reality, last in time. famous wonders were done by genius architects and we create the ‘happening’. ask yourself if you heard bilbao 5 years ago, but now you do because of frank gehry’s guggenheim museum.
• architects are passionate. they think the world revolves around them, they work for sleepless nights for a project and they present and sell their idea with high enthusiasm. we are the eccentric, we are the genius for our kind.“Passion for your work does carry over to a passion in real life. I don’t know of any architect who has not been passionate about life, particularly trying to figure out how to design one’s own life.” John Powers, a practising architect for 35 years
• architects are rich, in the impression of the public. they earn by percentage of a project’s cost. count 5% out of a multimillion project and you get the answer. in fact, major architects faces are printed in banknotes! le corbusier for switzerland’s note and alvar aalto for finland’s note-
• architects often came out in the screen. hollywood often have casts for architects, probably because of much of their creative energy in work, flexibility such as having a great pressure in work or getting huge wage bonus.“Architecture and the act of building have a lot of metaphorical power. Building something good seems admirable in itself, beyond what it pays as work. Architecture also has a bit of the common touch, which is important for a movie hero.” the movie Click co-writer Mark O’Keefe
