I have a lot of ideas for my blog posts.. but I’m just as lazy as hell. nevermind, today I’ll have a short post. OK, take a careful look at the photo below;

this is the bird’s eye view of the famous st peter’s basilica at rome. beautiful? but that is not the main point, now look at the drawing below;

a drawing of the exact monument. a children’s drawing from the photograph you say? wait, wait, before you argue onto the lack of renderings and shadow- let me say this;
what if the drawings were done in memory? what do I mean? OK, you memorized the whole building and you drew the exact same thing without refering to anything else but your memory. yes, just from your thoughts - and it’s true. I mean, really true. no cheats, no hanky panky, no magic. (lol dele, you sure remember that phrase)
and what if it’s not just that st peter’s basilica. what if I said the whole rome panorama, in 360 degree? no kidding. look what this guy did.

this is stephen wiltshire. he’s autistic, but for a trade-off he got this crazy photographic memory. the ‘human camera’. cool, eh? as far as I’ve known, two of his greatest works are the tokyo and rome panoramic views, from just one helicopter ride.
let’s imagine if architects have that talent, they would draw any building simultaneously from the memory, when or where they need it. if I wanted to tell my friends how awesome that building is, I will give them an exact drawing of it. and woot, what about perspective renderings? they will be so detailed, yet hand-drawn! and those architectural journals could be done in no time!
unbelievable? check the video below;
